FOGSquad 2015-16 Season Primer: Live From New York, It's These Guys! Edition

In preparation for the upcoming 2015-16 season, FOGSquad will post a season primer of every NHL team every other day until the beginning of the season on October 7th. This is thus part eight of a thirty part series. We hope you enjoy!

Last season’s review
After an excellent regular season campaign, the New York Rangers entered the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a will to win. Though the Rangers only managed to make it to the third round before falling in the seventh game to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Believe me, the window is not closed for the Rangers: expect to see them in playoffs for several years to come!

This season’s preview
The team has not changed much as we enter the 2015-16 season. I would not at all be surprised if the Rangers made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, or even the Stanley Cup Finals!

The official FOGSquad prediction
The Rangers head to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in three years. However, a strange, purple mist like static enters Madison Square Garden. People jitter in and out of existence. A massive hand crashes through the roof. Martin St. Louis, 60 feet tall and with flames in his mouth, plucks Henrik Lundqvist from the crease. The mist disappears. So does St. Louis and Lundqvist.

The game does not continue.

Players to watch
  • Henrik Lundqvist. God, he’s so dreamy. Here’s your excuse for when your significant other asks why you keep looking at the goalie and sighing: he’s really good. That’s all. Nothing else.
  • Chris Kreider. Just make sure he’s okay. Who is he going to kiss now? F*** you, Rangers.
  • James Sheppard. Please take good care of him. I miss him so much. I never got to say goodbye.
