FOGSquad 2015-16 Season Primer: I Want The Blue Jackets Social Media Person To Read Every Tweet They've Ever Written To Their Parents Edition

In preparation for the upcoming 2015-16 season, FOGSquad will post a season primer of every NHL team every other day (God willing) until the beginning of the season on October 7th. This is thus part five of a thirty part series. We hope you enjoy!

Last season’s review
I’m pretty sure the last time we saw the Columbus Blue Jackets, it was on the ice of an NHL arena, playing the sport of hockey. My dorm last semester didn’t have a TV and I bought one of those watches that show your text messages instead of NHL Gamecenter. Can you blame me? I thought not.

This season’s preview
Columbus has a lot of luck on their side, due to the fact that they have:
  • Something old
    • Rene Bourque and Scott Hartnell are both 33, so they're essentially old enough to be my grandparents
  • Something new
    • New trades and signings have refreshed their roster: from Greg Campbell to Brandon Saad, some new spirit is definitely going to recharge their locker room
  • Something borrowed
    • The fact that the Blue Jackets exist as an NHL franchise in Columbus, Ohio (a place I once lived in and hate to this day) implies that the organization is borrowing time from the Grim Reaper. Hopefully this decision is a fruitful one before the entire organization, the mayor of Columbus, and Stinger all have to live out the rest of their days in the underworld as repayment
  • Something blue
    • I think their jerseys are blue? I think a lot about the fact that maybe the color I identify as blue might not be the same color you see and know as blue? That's so f***ed up to me
If that rhyme works for 53% of marriages, it should work for the Blue Jackets next season.

The official FOGSquad prediction
I end up flying to Columbus and beating up the poor social media manager tasked with operating the Blue Jacket's twitter acount.

Players to watch
  • Brandon Saad.
  • Sergei Bobrovsky.
  • Whoever will finally rid us of the Evil that is the Columbus Blue Jackets Social Media Manager.
